Gwendolyn M. Causey

Gwen has been in the nursing profession for over 42 years. Gwen graduated from Hinds Community College’s Practical Nursing Program, then later pursued her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Mississippi College. While at Mississippi College, she was awarded the John C. Noble award for most likely to represent the nursing profession, Student Nurse of the Year, and was a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing. Gwen was a surveyor for the Mississippi State Department of Health where she was responsible for oversight of all Personal Care and Assisted Living facilities in the state. Gwen also served as Director of Long Term Care Quality and Regulatory Services for the Mississippi Health Care Association.

In 2004 Gwen became part of a team that is now the nursing home litigation section of HAT. Gwen is a vital and important part of the discovery and trail preparation associated with nursing home litigation. She has worked extensively with attorneys reviewing standards of care and practices in long term care as well as other areas.

In 2008, she became a Certified Legal Nurse Consultant. She received her Master’s in Public Health from Jackson State University in 2013 with a concentration in Health Policy and Management.

Gwen is an active member of Mt. Nebo Missionary Baptist Church in Jackson, Mississippi where she serves as a Member Assimilation Committee & Deaconess Ministry. She is married to Don Causey and between them they have 4 children and 10 grandchildren. Her hobbies include traveling and playing the piano.
