Coleman Secures Favorable Ruling in Mississippi Bench Trial

In May 2020, a Mississippi judge ruled in favor of the University of Mississippi Medical Center, represented by HAT attorney Mike Coleman. The case’s plaintiff alleged that a patient had not received proper care, including nutrition and hydration, at a nursing home owned and operated by UMMC in Holmes County, Mississippi. The plaintiff alleged that this led to the patient’s death.

However, Coleman and the trial team proved that UUMC provided outstanding care and that the patient died of natural causes related to his underlying comorbidities, along with the fact that he was simply at the end of his life.

“I am always proud when we can prove that the medical providers we represent gave good, proper medical care,” Coleman said. “This was a good win for the client and for our trial team.”
