Cannabis Law: Mississippi Medical Marijuana Update – Jan. 27, 2022
We’ve got another exciting update for you! The Mississippi Medical Cannabis Act has successfully made its way through both the Senate and House. Both chambers passed the final legislation with veto-proof majorities.
The bill is now on its way to the Governor’s desk, who is said to have previously applauded tighter restrictions on cannabis, but he will need to review the bill before signing it into action.
He now has five days to either sign it into law or return it with objections. If no action is taken by the deadline, the Act becomes law without signature. We expect dispensaries to be licensed about six months later. And, Mississippi’s medical cannabis program could be up and running by the end of the year.
We did it! Our team at Hagwood and Tipton is excited to see movement in this monumental field. If you have any questions, please contact Julie Mitchell at 601-707-4039.
